Record Store Day 2021 Officially Announced… Or Was It?

We’re getting some form of Record Store Day on June 12. It’s just not clear what it will look like in 2021.

The official Record Store Day website and Facebook recently shared a logo for what will likely be RSD 2021 with the message “save the date.”

No further details have been revealed regarding WHAT will happen on June 12.

An event in June would a couple months later than the traditional Record Store Day that is typically held in April each year. But as we all know, planning events was anything but typical for most of 2020.

Record Store Day 2020 was originally set to take place April 18. Organizers were quick to announce a reschedule date of June 10 once COVID precautions ramped up in March.

The 2020 version of Record Store Day eventually morphed into three RSD drops, smaller opportunities to buy limited edition albums at independent record stores on Aug. 29, Sept. 26 and Oct. 24.

The first official Record Store Day was held in 2008.
